The Miss Black Hills Roundup Queen Pageant is more than a competition. It is an opportunity for young women to represent one of the most respected rodeos in America while serving as ambassadors for the sport of rodeo, the western way of life, and the community of Belle Fourche.
Contestants are evaluated on horsemanship, personality, public speaking, appearance, and their knowledge of rodeo and western heritage. Throughout the pageant, participants develop leadership skills, build lasting friendships, and gain valuable experience representing sponsors, fans, and the Black Hills Roundup. The crowned Miss Black Hills Roundup Queen serves as the official representative of the Black Hills Roundup, a 7-time PRCA Medium Outdoor Rodeo of the Year, appearing at rodeos, parades, community events, and promotional activities throughout her reign.
