Rodeo Announcer Steve Goedert

Steve Goedert returns to the Black Hills Roundup in 2026. “I can’t tell you what an absolute honor it is to be a part of this rodeo. If you announce rodeo and you think of the 4th of July, there are few places you’d rather be than Belle Fourche," says Goedert.

Steve is a former United States Marine and graduate of CSU Chico with a degree in Ag Business, Steve has always had a passion for ranching. Raised in a ranching community and following in his Grandfather's footsteps, he knew he wanted to be an auctioneer at an early age. Steve has spent most of his life in sale barns and working cattle. Steve performs multiple sales a week for Beaverhead Livestock Auction and Montana Livestock Auction Company.

Steve resides in Southwest Montana with his wife and three children.

Professional Rodeo Announcer Andy Seiler

Professional Rodeo Announcer Andy Seiler has never met a stranger. His passion and love for the sport of rodeo combined with his broadcast journalism degree make his career choice as a rodeo announcer a winning combination. Seiler has announced all over the country in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) and has been called “an up-and-coming voice for professional rodeo,” by Boyd Polhamus. “I have always enjoyed talking to people and discussing everything rodeo,” Andy explains. “I just never knew that the years of roping the dummy and working to be a champion translate later in life in trying to give contestants and fans alike that same winning feeling.”

Andy’s first-hand knowledge and experience will keep your crowd tuning into the action to see what exciting development will unfold next. A former National High School Finals Champion Team Roper and a three-time qualifier to the College National Finals Rodeo, Andy has been able to win at multiple levels and now enjoys describing the joy of victory and the heartbreak of defeat to rodeo spectators nationwide. “I truly enjoy being a part of an industry that embodies an American icon that is the cowboy,” Seiler says. “I grew up on a farm, loving the honesty, toughness, and the integrity that comes with the ranching and farming way of life and today’s contestants keep that tradition of yesterday alive.”

The announcer of the rodeo is essential in making sure fans are not only informed, but that they are enjoying their time spent in a family-safe environment. Seiler is a husband and a father who knows the importance of telling the tale for all ages and generations to enjoy, because a repeat customer is a winner for everyone. If you are looking to ways to make your event grow into the future, make sure you have a commentator who knows what the future of your event can be. Former NIRA Commissioner John Smith said, “I honestly believe Andy will be one of the best recognized announcers in the sport of rodeo.” Andy Seiler is willing and able to make sure that his talents and resume match up to the needs of your next event.

Wil Moorhead - PRCA Music Director

Wil Moorhead grew up on the production side of rodeo and has been a Music Director for well over a decade. He brings experience of event production from 2 separate NCAA institutions as well as audio production experience for the SEC Network and ESPN. Now a resident of north Texas, Wil is easily the most over-educated contract personnel member in the PRCA, where he celebrates being one of the first carded Music Directors in the association since 2016. He owns not only a bachelor’s degree from Auburn University, but also a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Mississippi State University. Despite this education, Wil believes his true calling is in rodeo production and he has chosen to spend much of his time traveling with his wife, Angela, and their 3 dogs to work at rodeos around the country. When not on the road, Moorhead owns and operates FLEXX Animal Chiropractic while also producing and editing video content for rodeo productions around the country including major events like the Dixie National in Jackson, Mississippi and the Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo in Utah. Wil has had the honor of being selected as the music director for two separate PRCA Circuit Finals events at the RAM Southeastern Circuit Finals in 2019 and the RAM Texas Circuit Finals Rodeo in 2023. He joins the Black Hills Roundup for the first time in 2024!

Jessi Jane Fieldgrove - Rodeo Secretary

Jessi Fieldgrove is a Wyoming native, raised on a cattle ranch outside
of Clearmont, WY. There she participated in 4-H and was a three-sport
athlete, later attending Dickinson
State University on a volleyball scholarship. In 2016 she received a
license as a nail technician and makeup artist, specializing in stage
makeup and photo shoots. When she’s not spending time at rodeo’s, she
works full time in a salon in Sheridan, WY.

Jessi has been around rodeo her entire life but first started her
rodeo profession as a PRCA Timer in 2009, with the Black Hills Roundup
being one of her very first rodeos to work. In 2014 she got selected
to time the WNFR for the first time and is now a 3x WNFR timer. During
her career, Jessi has also been selected to time the RNCFR, Steer
Roping RNCFR, Mountain States Steer Roping Circuit Finals and numerous
Mountain States Circuit Finals. In 2015, Jessi obtained her PRCA
Secretary card and has had the honor of being secretary at the
Mountain States Circuit Finals, Mountain States Steer Roping Circuit
Finals as well as secretary and assistant secretary at the RNCFR in
Kissimmee, FL.

Jessi works hard behind the scenes to ensure flawless, fast paced
rodeo performances. As an independent rodeo secretary, she loves that
she can contribute to the sport of rodeo
by providing efficiency and camaraderie at every rodeo she has had the
privilege to be a part of.

“The Black Hills Roundup has always held a special place in my heart.
I have told the story of Belle Fourche over the 4th of July too many
times to count. Some of my greatest rodeo memories come from there.
There is just nothing like it. I worked the rodeo as a timer for 10
years, my last year being in 2019 where they celebrated the 100th
Anniversary. It’s been 5 years since I’ve been back, and I am so
excited to make new memories as the rodeo secretary.”

Rode bulls for almost 20 + years and the final year of riding in 2017 I qualified for the NBRT bull-riding finals.

After I retired my bull rope, I picked up a microphone to pursue rodeo announcing. When Covid hit it shut down a lot of shows and getting gigs was next to impossible. Being an artist my whole life, a friend convinced me to give photography a shot. What started out as a hobby, became something that would open another level of goals to achieve. I became a PRCA photographer in 2022 and to this day, I’m the only PRCA photographer in North Dakota. I’ve been able to shoot some of the biggest rodeos across the country from Cheyenne Frontier days to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo as a media photographer.

As one of the biggest rodeos in the country, I’m humbled and excited to be the Black Hills Roundups official photographer.

Rodeo Clown & Barrelman – Matt Merritt

Matt was born in North Louisiana in 1982 and grew up fishing and playing baseball where he was a shortstop and third baseman in the summer months. In the fall, he would play football as a quarterback and enjoyed hunting. He was introduced to Rodeo in his early teenage years where he tried to ride a few steers and began hanging around the 2 x 4 Ranch in Heflin, Louisiana. He found very quickly that his position in the sport would be as an entertainer and clown. Working his first event in the late 1990s things took off quickly. By 2004 Merritt had worked his first PBR. That same year he would marry his wife Bonnie where they would begin to start their family in North Carolina. Merritt still lives in North Carolina today. He and Bonnie have just celebrated their 20th anniversary. They have two daughters. Ruia who is 15 years old has just acquired her PRCA permit as a contract act where she performs with her Liberty horses. Their youngest, Etta, is 12 years old and competes in every event in female rodeo. Since that first PBR in 2004, Merritt’s accomplishments have grown and continue to do so. He has been featured at some of the nations greatest rodeos, including Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, Salinas Rodeo, Reno Rodeo, San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo, the Canadian PBR World Finals, The Badland Circuit Finals, 10 times to the PBR Australia Grand Finals, nine times to the PBR Velocity Tour Finals, the Kid Rock Rocking Rodeo, three times to the American, two times to the PBR World Finals, and many more.

Merritt’s off the hip brand of humor, provides him with a unique opportunity to entertain people of all walks of life. He rarely uses a script and thinks on his feet while in the arena. “Everyone has a cell phone in their hand these days and with that cell phone, they can entertain themselves at any moment with exactly what they are interested in” - says Merritt. “The challenge is to keep the audience's attention, and I find that on the spot humor seems to do that better than anything else I have found.” Merritt has performed in 48 states and six different countries. He has found himself in a few different movies and done a little bit of stunt work. His biggest role was playing himself in the Nicolas Sparks and Fox Studios movie “The Longest Ride”. He looks forward to every event or opportunity to entertain people. He loves his job with all of his heart and hopes that his excitement for entertainment is contagious to the audiences he performs for.

One Armed Bandit

John Payne, better known as the One Arm Bandit, is one of rodeo’s most recognizable entertainers and a 15-time PRCA Specialty Act of the Year, a record unmatched in the sport. Raised on a ranch near Shidler, Oklahoma, Payne’s life changed forever after a devastating electrical accident in 1973 cost him his right arm. Rather than allowing tragedy to define him, he returned home determined to build a new future. That determination led to the creation of the One Arm Bandit, an act that has inspired rodeo fans for generations and secured Payne’s place among the most respected figures in Western entertainment.

With a cast that may include trained mules, buffalo, mustangs, longhorn steers, and even a zebra, the One Arm Bandit delivers a performance unlike anything else in rodeo. Audiences watch in amazement as Payne guides his animals through a series of exciting maneuvers atop his custom-built trailer, showcasing a level of trust and training that few can achieve. More than entertainment, his performance is a story of perseverance, skill, and a lifelong commitment to the Western way of life.
